I Want To Be Your Superman

I know it sounds silly,
but I was just reading some comics,
and I was thinking how much 
I would love to be a superhero.

Not for the fame, or glory,
or the adrenaline rush of 
flying through the night sky,
but for you.

I’d change the course of the tides for you.
I’d be the world’s hero,
just so that you could enjoy life
for everyday that I save it.

I’d risk my life for you.
Putting myself in danger for you
would be no problem because
I’m a superhero, your Superman.

Now, it all seems silly right?
I obviously don’t have superhuman strength,
but that doesn’t matter to me, 
cause being a superhero to you would mean that
I’d be there for you, whenever you need
a friend to talk to, 
someone to go out for ice cream with.
Someone to help you with any problem that might come up.

But if I could fly, 
I don’t think there would be another person more worthy to take flying with me.
You belong amongst the stars.
You deserve everything that my super powers could provide.

If I could turn the tides, I would do it for you,
if you needed me to.
I would be your Superman!

I want to be your superman,
I want to take you flying across cityscapes at night.
You’ve taken me so far,
just in the times I’ve looked in your eyes.

I want to be your superman,
and if you ever are in need of help,
I’ll be there for you.
I’ll be there because I feel you deserve all that I am able to give to you.

I want to be your Superman,
will you be my Lois Lane?
